Solidarity with Imam Jamil Al-Amin
Justice for Imam Jamil Al-Amin! Formerly known as H. Rap Brown, his fearless work in SNCC, the Black Panther Party, and as a religious leader inspired many and for that attracted state violence. Now, medical neglect has left him legally blind as he serves time for a crime that he was unjustly convicted for and another man confessed to.
This follows a long history of political repression, including an FBI COINTELPRO memo that called to “neutralize” him, other revolutionary leaders like Kwame Ture, and the struggle for Black liberation as a whole. We cannot sit and wait while the carceral system grinds him down! He needs support now, not commemorations later.
Join the coalition to free Imam Jamil Al-Amin outside of the Tucson Federal Courthouse today (August 15, 2021) from 5-7 pm, learn more at whathappened2rap.com, and sign this petition demanding a new trial: change.org/freeimamjamil.
Phoenix DSA stands in solidarity with him, and all political prisoners unjustly persecuted for their struggle for liberation! #FreeImamJamil #FreeHRapBrown
